The heart of Van Thiel & Co. is a vast inventory of authentic, decorative European and Asian antiques.

During their years of constant travel around the world father and son have developed a very rare expertise in buying at small auctions, back street sources, and local markets – cutting out every middle man.

Over time the van Thiels have carefully fine tuned all areas of their business.

Years have been spent developing a private network of colorful people to buy clear outs and estates, training local craftsmen to authentically restore and finish European antiques, building up a data bank of photos and designs, and creating an unprecedented inventory of hardware, wood species, waxes, leathers and vintage upholstery fabrics.

In support of this buying and restoration capability, the van Thiels have acquired special import licenses, developed custom software, acquired and organized tens of thousands of square feet of storage space and opened consolidation warehouses in Hungary, England, France, Holland, India, Egypt and Indonesia from which containers are shipped to their central restoration facility in Beijing, China.

These efforts have produced a unique organization that provides van Thiel’s clients with trouble free “turn-key” sourcing of beautifully restored finds from all over the world.
